Tests, service, warranty and documentation
In hardware development testing is one of the most important stages. When the product is on the market it might require servicing. Although these actions can have a different character for every product, there are some general rules which apply.
Equipment tests
Each of the pieces of equipment is tested for specification conformity. It is important to carry out hardware-in-the-loop tests for as many units as possible. If it is difficult and costly to test every unit with such method, it is convenient to provide a plant emulator and test the equipment with it. Basic equipment functionality can be checked with measurement equipment. Each unit is given a unique number. The tests results, time stamp and comments are stored in our quality system.
Emission and Immunity tests and CE marking
It is through years of experience and constant equipment testing that one gains knowledge on how to built equipment so it passes emission and immunity tests. We have access to a lab, which performs such tests.
In most cases CE marking does not have to be given by a third party. The equipment has to comply to certain EU rules to give it a CE mark. This decision and responsibility can be taken by the equipment manufacturer or distributor.
Service and warranty
FP Instruments grants 1 year of warranty for manufactured products. Each unit will get a unique number, which allows to identify it among all that were produced. The warranty is given under certain conditions, which are specified in the warranty terms document. When the warranty period finishes we offer our service to repair any kind of damage.
Documentation
During the development of each product certain documentation is required. Apart from schematics, PCB layout or test documentation, several other documents can be created during product development:
- Specification documentation
SRS - System Requirement Specification
IRS - Interface Requirement Specification
- Development documentation
SAD - System Architectual Design
SED - System Electrical Diagrams
SMS - System Mechanical Design
SFDD - Software Functional Design Description
FFDD - Firmware Functional Diagram Description

IDD - Interface Design Description
UIDD - User Interface Design Description
DBDD - DataBase Design Description
UM - User Manuals
SBR - Software Bug Reports
STP - System Test Procedures
STR - System Test Report
PTR - Product Test Report
